The company has set up two thermal power plants Units with a capacity of 210 MW each in Lalpania area of Bokaro district in the state of Jharkhand (Tenughat Thermal Power Station). The major advantage of the power plant is its location which lies just beside the TENU reservoir, also coal mines are very nearer to this place and as all know Jharkhand is the largest coal producing state in India. This gives company huge advantage of low-cost Raw Material leading to low cost generation.

TVNL has also planned its future expansion of existing site/plant by addition of 2X660 MW super critical units. Currently the entire generation of Thermal Power Station is committed to the state of Jharkhand.
